We love to stay on top of the Pasadena luxury real estate market. In May of 2023, the most expensive home sold in Pasadena was 1660 Lombardy Rd. This gorgeous estate was originally listed for $10,800,000. The property achieved a sale price of $10,300,000 prior to its entry into the Multiple Listing Service (MLS). In 2015, the sellers acquired the magnificent estate for the sum of $4,580,000.
An interesting observation is that the seller’s purchase documentation noted square footage of 5,813, while the current listing lists the square footage as 9,188. Hence the dramatic seven-year appreciation jump.
Since the luxury estate was sold “off-market,” limited MLS remarks were available. They read: Information for comp purposes only. Stunning Italian villa restored and expanded to perfection.
2015 MLS remarks for 1660 Lombardy Rd., Pasadena read: Located on a premier street over a half-acre flat land adjacent to the Huntington Library, this stately 1928 Italian Revival Style estate was designed by noted architect Lawrence C. Test. The grand formal spaces of this 7-bedroom home include a large formal entry, formal living room with carved wood ceiling, fireplace and Palladian style doors and windows, formal dining room with French doors to the rear terrace and loggia, and library with fireplace. The picturesque formal gardens include a swimming pool and pond and offer privacy and generous space for entertainment. Additional features include a three-car garage, an elevator in the home, and a large basement.

I hope the owners got a significant opportunity to enjoy the upgrades and additions that were made before deciding to sell
