Last week we listed 4344 Fairlawn Drive La Canada. It was with none of the typical excitement of a new listing. There were no public open houses and no broker’s caravan. It was completely different. We are not supposed to have “paper” in the listings. So the property brochure is in a PDF which is attached to the MLS listing. I mailed postcards and I posted on Facebook and Instagram. An agent in my office held it open… virtually. Virtual open houses are typically via Zoom and Facebook live.
In the pre-corona days, I would have had a broker’s open house on Tuesday for Foothill Realtors and Thursday for Pasadena real estate agents. But now everything is different. Only two potential buyers are allowed in the home with their real estate agent. To be even safer, as this is a vacant home, the buyer’s Realtor can simply open the door for their client and lock up when the client leaves. Obviously the buyer’s agent should view the home.
So about 4344 Fairlawn Drive La Canada: The main home has three bedrooms and two baths. There is very large guest house (almost 800 square feet) that was built in 2008 and an older swimming pool. The star of this property is the lot – over 1/2 level acre. There are multiple fruit trees. The property offers tremendous potential for an addition or a rebuild. This California ranch is right round the corner from Descanso Gardens and an easy stroll to our summer “Music in the Park” (sadly postponed).
But sadly these aren’t the “old days” – we are living and making the best of “new days”. So last weekend when I should have been hosting open houses, I got some pool time….when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
