Let’s dive into the La Canada Real Estate Market for August 2023. Last month, fifteen homes sold, down from July’s twenty. Seven out of the fifteen homes sold over their asking price, four at asking and four under the asking price. The least expensive home sold in La Canada was a four-bedroom, three-bathroom, 2,5000-square-foot home located at 4743 Castle Rd, which is not located in the La Canada school district. Initially listed for $1,899,000. It sold in forty-five days for $1,700,000. The most expensive home sold was a five-bedroom, six-bathroom, 4,712-square-foot home located at 4261 Commonwealth Ave. Originally listed for $4,395,000 and sold in twenty-four days for $4,380,000.
When analyzing the La Canada real estate market for August 2023, it’s interesting to note the price-per-square-foot discrepancy. On the low end was the home on Castle noted above. It sold for just $680 per foot. In contrast, the Lloyd Wright home on Journeys End sold for $1201 per foot. I had the pleasure of listing this home years ago before it was remodeled. At the time, I wanted to purchase it for my family, but my husband hated the home, while I loved it.
The number of days on the market also varied. On the low end was 4602 Alcorn selling in just six days. Originally listed for $1,895,000 it sold for $2,025,000. Taking the longest was a home on Fairmount, taking 319 days to sell. Originally listed at $3,950,000 then reduced to $3,795,000. This home sold for $3,648,563 (must be someone’s lucky numbers).
It’s tough when a husband and wife don’t agree on a home. I have been hearing about “the one that got away” for many years from my husband. At this point I think he has romanticized the house in his mind but it’s a thorn for us non the less
