Although my family typically does not travel this time of year, and for those staying in town, there are numerous holiday parties, lunches, and end-of-the-year gatherings. The last thing any of us want is a break-in. Here are some tricks and tips on keeping your home safe during the holidays.
If you are going out of town, stop the paper and the mail (and just because you did, don’t assume it will happen). Make sure you inform a few trusted neighbors so they can keep an eye on your home. Ask someone to check for packages, and door hangers and anything else that can accumulate at your front door or in the mailbox. If your neighbor has a full house, ask that one of their family members parks in your driveway. Don’t leave presents under the tree in plain sight.
Don’t let your home look empty. Lights, televisions and radios left on timers can make your home appear occupied.
Get an alarm and/or a watchdog.
Great tips. I travel regularly and come home after long vacation. I will definitely follow your tips. Thanks for sharing the information
