Yes, this is a real estate blog. But quality of life impacts real estate values. Here’s what I enjoy about living in the Foothills:
Other than the horrific traffic light at the corner of Angeles Crest and Foothill, I love that we don’t have the traffic that so many neighborhoods in the San Fernando Valley have. I appreciate that in so many of our Foothill neighborhoods, parking is free (no worries about validation like at the Americana or Pasadena’s Old Town)
Favorite restaurants for lunch and dinner:
Taylors, (if you are looking for a quiet business lunch, ask to be seated in the wine room),
Of course if you wander over to Pasadena, there’s Roy’s, who has a fantastic happy hour.
Ruth’s Chris also hosts an amazing happy hour, (try their steak sandwich).
Favorite restaurants for breakfast:
LA Weekly Just Named the Proper’s hamburger one of the 10 Best Burgers in Los Angeles. But other than their burger I don’t care much for their lunch menu, the food is good, just not my style. But my favorite breakfast is at The Proper, because it is typically quiet, uncrowded and the food is delicious.
I like the breakfast sandwich at Hill Street Café (it’s large enough to share).
I love breakfast and the cappuccino at the Black Cow
Gios serves great cappuccino and pastry.
When we want to bring the dogs, we go to Ocean View Bar and Grill – they are very dog friendly and will bring water and a bowl of chicken for your four legged friends.
Entertainment:
We are fortunate to have the Regal Theater in La Canada with the new reclining seats. Parking is easy and they sell gourmet hot dogs. Lunch or dinner before or after at Café Sole is a must.
For those with young children, Glendale’s Center Theatre is great, Cinderella starts playing March 14th.
Favorite hikes:
My favorite is Oak Grove Park (Hahamongna) and of course the horse trails, Cherry Canyon and the hike above Brand Park.
I hiked Eaton Canyon but it’s really difficult with a dog on a leash.
