What’s it like living in La Canada?

Located in Los Angeles County, California, it is known for its beautiful suburban setting, proximity to nature, and excellent school district. What’s it like living in La Canada? As a top La Canada real estate agent and resident, I can attest to the desirability of this community. Like many residents, my husband and I moved here in the early 1990s because of the award-winning public schools.

Many families sell their homes and move after their children complete their education. But I love living in this tight-knit community. Here are some aspects of everyday living in La Canada:

Community Spirit: La Canada has a strong sense of community and a tight-knit feel. The city hosts various community events and festivals, encouraging residents to foster connections. The biggest annual event is Fiesta Days for Memorial Weekend. There is a parade, breakfast, car show, fireworks, movies, and the kickoff to Music in Park, a Summer Concert Series on Sunday evenings.

We have two major hiking trails. Hahamongna and Cherry Canyon, and of course, we are home to Descanso Gardens. Although we really only have one major thoroughfare Foothill Blvd. getting across town is usually simple. The main traffic problem is East of Gould on Foothill during school drop-off and pickup. I am a St. Bede parishioner and can typically drive to church in five minutes. On Saturdays, you will find me at our Farmer’s Market which is also a five-minute drive.

Every community has its drawbacks. We have several trash companies, and these big trucks clog the neighborhood, I wish the city would contract with just one company and eliminate this noise and traffic nuisance. The city has wildlife, coyotes, and bears, and we have frequent power outages. If you want to learn more about living in La Canada, just contact Phyllis.

Power outages are the worst. Especially because you never know how long they will last so it makes it hard to prepare
