As a Realtor, I view a lot of homes. There are weekly broker caravans that allow me to see new listings in La Canada, Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena, and La Crescenta. Because of that, I keep current on kitchen design trends. I have dreamed of remodeling my 1990’s kitchen for years. But the thought of doing so with two German shepherds is just too overwhelming. But if I were to remodel, number one on my list is an appliance pantry. I recently sold a Glendale home with an appliance pantry, and I have been a fan ever since.

Today’s kitchens serve as gathering spaces, workspaces, and entertainment hubs. As a result, we want kitchens that feel both functional and beautiful. That shift has fueled the growing popularity of appliance pantries. An appliance pantry hides small appliances behind cabinet doors while keeping them within easy reach. Coffee makers, toasters, mixers, crockpots, stay accessible but out of sight. Meanwhile, appliance pantries create an even larger hidden workspace for prep, storage, and everyday kitchen tasks.
Homeowners prioritize clean countertops and organized spaces. As a result, designers now embrace “hidden functionality” as one of today’s biggest kitchen trends. Designers now add built-in outlets. In some homes, designers incorporate dedicated coffee stations. At the same time, appliance pantries continue to gain momentum. These spaces allow homeowners to hide messier kitchen tasks behind closed doors. As a result, the main kitchen stays calm, clean, and visually uncluttered.
Another major trend involves creating separate kitchen zones. For example, many now include beverage centers, breakfast stations, or baking areas inside a pantry space. This layout improves workflow while also making entertaining easier. In addition, appliance garages appeal to buyers who want kitchens that feel custom and luxurious. A thoughtfully designed appliance pantry can make a kitchen feel larger, more organized, and more luxurious.
Ultimately, appliance pantries reflect how we want to live today. People want kitchens that work hard without looking busy. They want convenience without clutter. Most importantly, they want smart design that blends beauty with everyday function.
